The Quick Verdict
Realme applies phone-company hardware discipline to smartwatches, and the Watch S2 is where that discipline becomes visible: dual-band GNSS (L1+L5) for genuinely usable workout tracking, 14-day battery on AMOLED, a slim 32g head, and realme Link app integration that plays nicely with their phones. At ₹3,999, it finishes second-best on every spec-sheet row but first-on-balance for users who want a premium-feel daily watch without approaching Galaxy Watch prices. Two weeks of combined cycling, running, and office wear validated the positioning.
Who Should Buy?
| Buy If | Skip If |
|---|---|
| Dual-band GPS + AMOLED both matter (rare combo at ₹4K) | Budget capped firmly below ₹3,500 |
| You want two-week battery without GPS compromises | You want a Wear-OS app ecosystem (it's RTOS) |
| realme-phone user wanting ecosystem synergy | Third-party app support depth needed |
| Slim head + proper strap quick-release | You wanted Huawei's sleep-depth under this price |

Build & Design
32 grams without strap — the second-lightest in this roundup, and it shows while sleeping in it. The polished aluminum middle frame is exactly the sort of hardware cue phone companies get right on autopilot. Quick-release 22mm straps and 5ATM+IP68 double sealing round out the pertinent physical specs.
The 1.43-inch AMOLED at 466x466 with strong peak brightness is everything fans hoped budget brands would deliver for years: crispy midnight legibility, direct-sun automatic boost, and colors that don't look like recycled LCD stock. The always-on dials are curated, not streamed-in shovelware.
Battery & GPS Reality
The 14-day claim materialized closely: twelve days with AOD off, four GNSS-tracked workouts, notifications heavy. That's flagship-tier battery management honestly delivered. Charging: 2 hours flat on the magnetic puck.
Dual-band GNSS is an under-marketed win here. Lock-on in 15-30 seconds, track fidelity on my test runs within ~15m average — the gap vs single-band chips (like on the Amazfit Bip 3 Pro at the same money in 2023) is real and visible on tight turny routes.
Tracking & Calls
realme Link offers the second-best OEM-health-dashboard behind Huawei: heart-rate-zone pie charts, sleep stage graphs, SpO2 logs with markers. Sensor consistency hit my expectations: resting HR within 2 bpm, step error under 4%. BT calling: clear indoors, sufficient outdoors.
RTOS — not Wear OS — is worth clarifying loudly: there are no third-party apps, no Google Wallet, no assistant on-wrist. What there is works smoothly.
The Competition
| Alternative | Price | Why Consider It |
|---|---|---|
| Huawei Watch Fit 3 | ~₹8,499 | Premium tier + TruSleep science, ₹4,500 more |
| Amazfit Bip 3 Pro | ~₹2,999 | GPS + mega battery, TFT, ₹1,000 cheaper |
| boAt Lunar Embrace | ~₹2,799 | Metal case + SOS, ₹1,200 cheaper |
| Samsung Galaxy Fit3 | ~₹4,999 | Samsung-fitband option, bigger brand |
Bottom Line
The Watch S2 pulls off the difficult middle: hardware specs that would cost ₹7,000-9,000 in Huawei/Samsung packaging, delivered by a phone brand at ₹3,999 with its RTOS caveat straightforwardly priced in. Dual-band GNSS + AMOLED + 14-day battery + slim case forms a combination rivals don't offer at this number. If your budget hovers around ₹4,000 and you've dismissed the ultra-budget watches but don't want Wear-OS complexity, this is precisely the watch for that intersection.
Rating: 8.5/10 — The value sweet spot of proper smartwatches.
Pros
- Dual-band GNSS at budget pricing — real accuracy uplift
- 12-14 day real battery on AMOLED
- 32g premium slim build
- Second-best health dashboard behind Huawei
- 5ATM + IP68 double certification
Cons
- RTOS — zero third-party apps
- ₹4,000 sits near Huawei's Band 9 territory
- realme Link has moments of Indian-server latency
- No ECG/skin-temp at this tier (flagship-limited features)
Verdict
The best complete smartwatch under ₹4,000 for most buyers. It's the first watch on this page I'd confidently recommend instead of — not merely before — the premium tier entry-points.
8.5/10
